         Travel the World with Mes Amis International Tea Events.  People are invited to attemd monthly International Tea Celebrations.  The objective of these  International Tea Events is to experience and  appreciate unique celebrations and traditions from countries around the world!

     

         Youth memberships are available anytime of the year! 

     

       Members will be invited to attend TEN International Tea Celebrations per year. This unique opportunity will allow members to attend one specialty Tea Event per month for ten months (excluding June & July). 

     

       At Mes Amis Teahouse, members will travel to Africa, Turkey, India, China, Japan, Argentina, Russia, England, Ireland, & Scandinavia.

 

       Members will be invited to experience the "host country" through its festivals, clothing, food, entertainment and of course, how tea is celebrated in that country.

 

 A membership will include the following:

        

* TEN International Tea Celebrations. 

 Each International Tea Event will  be unique. In addition to the sampling of  food  and tea served at each celebration, the "host country" may include a guest speaker or performer or a craft.                     

      

* A Personalized Mes Amis Passport. 

   A youth member's picture will be taken for  special Mes Amis Passport.  Bring the Passport to each Tea Event to have it

   stamped by the "host"  country. 

 

                                                                  

 

     **A Keepsake Travel Guide.

    A Travel The World with Mes Amis information travel guide book has been created for each tea club member. This keepsake binder provides history and timeline of "tea" as it traveled from China over 5,000 years ago throughout the world. 

      The travel guide includes a brief description of the "tea experience" as it is celebrated in each of the host countries.  Maps, facts, paper dolls and other activities are also included in this travel guide book.

   

* Small gift souvenir be given to the youth at each Tea Event.

A small momento symbolic of the "host" country will be given to the member at each International Tea Event.                                       

    * 5 x 7 Photo

   Members are invited to have their picture taken dressed in an    International   costume to put in their travel guide  keepsake binder.

    

  

                                                    Price:  $225.00 per member

 

The $225.00 breaks down to $22.50 per tea event PLUS a MES AMIS TEAHOUSE PASSPORT with  photo, TRAVEL GUIDE with 5 x 7 International photo,  and SOUVENIR at each tea event!

 January 2009 -  "CHINA" - We will experience together a "Gong Fu Cha" Ceremony

                        

 February  2009 - "UNITED KINGDOM" - Join us for a  Royal Valentine's Day Full Afternoon British Tea Service                               and learn about a Welsh love spoon custom.

 

March  2009 -     "IRELAND" - Celebrate "The Luck 'o the Irish and Erin Go Braugh" (Ireland Forever) with 

                            St. Patrick's Day themed "Cupan Tae" ritual!

 

 April 2009 -     "RUSSIA" - Learn about the beautiful Faberge and Pysanky Russian Easter Egg tradition with a Russian Tea Ceremony. 

 

May  2009 -     "JAPAN" - Visit our "Jaku" (Tranquility) Japanese Teahouse situated on the Mes Amis property.  Enjoy a  Japanese Tea Ceremony presentation 

                        we will also celebrate Kodom-no-hi (Children's Day).

 

June 2009 -     No Tea Event. (Mes Amis Teahouse will be offering Colonial & Victorian Day Camps. Click on the  Living History Day Camps link for more

                        information.

                      

July 2009 -      No Tea Event. Summer Break.

 

August  20089- "SOUTH AMERICA - ARGENTINA" - Experience the flavor of yerba mate, the traditional drink of many South American countries.  We will sip

                          mate from a gourd and use a bombilla straw to celebrate a "Mate - Circle of Friendship" ceremony.

 

September  2009 - "TURKEY" - Try drinking Turkish "cay" out of tulip shaped glasses with a sugar cube in your mouth (called kitlama cay)!  Also enjoy eating

                               Turkish  Delights (like Edmond from the Chronicles of  Narnia!)  

 

October  2009 -  "INDIA" - Let's light up Mes Amis Teahouse as we share in a Diwali "Festival of Lights" celebration,  talk about Gandhi, and enjoy a spiced drink

                           called  Chai Masala.

 

November 2009 -  "AFRICA" - Come to our "Attaya" - a Senegalese  Friendship Tea Ceremony.  Share in a three round  tea ceremony that symbolizes

                             friendship..."the longer we are together as friends, the sweeter our friendship grows!.

December  2009 -   SCANDINAVIA: "SWEDEN" - Experience a "Santa  Lucia -  Queen of Lights" tradition.  At  Mes Amis Teahouse, will reinact the Swedish 

                              tradition of  a Santa Lucia procession.  A young woman dressed  in a white gown and red sash with a pine wreath with candles in her hair,

                               will lead a procession into the teahouse.  She will carry a tray of hot tea and  a platter of "lussekatt" (Santa Lucia buns - saffron

                               rolls) .  We will all share in some holiday cheer!

 

     These International Tea Celebrations are availabe to the general public on a month-to-month basis, based on availability at $25.00 per tea service for adults and $22.50 per tea service for youth.
